Pet Adoption
By adopting a pet you are not only helping the pet you adopt but also others in or needing to come into rescue. Your adoption helps us to keep doing what we do to help area animals stop reproducing and find quality homes for the homeless while providing them the best care we can.
THINK BEFORE YOU ADOPT! Just "loving animals" is not a good reason to adopt a homeless pet. Before you decide to bring a pet into your home, make absolutely sure that you have the time and can afford the care. A pet is a life time committment and a loved part of your family. A pet is a MAJOR responsibility & expense.
Each Joyful Rescues pet has been thrown away at least once and/or lived a horrific life so far. Pets are not disposable because your life has changed. Before you decide to bring a pet into your home, make absolutely sure that it will be a life time commitment. When our pets leave us we want them to go to their forever homes.
"He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog. You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion." -Unknown
Your new family member will take considerable time, attention, patience and money to be properly cared for. Think of your new addition as your baby!! It is not a lawn ornament to be tied in your yard or kept in a basement. Consider the ultimate size of a young pet, how big of a pet can you handle?? Are you ready for an adult DOG or CAT in your family? If not, do not adopt a puppy or kitten - they grow up. Are you prepared for unexpected illnesses or injuries that could ultimately cost $1,000s?
When a rejected applicant makes the statement that we'd rather see our pets stay unwanted in a shelter...... well, not so. They are very wanted and happy at JR's country haven in their transition to the "right" home for them no matter how long that may take. They are very well cared for & receive all necessary vet care here. It is not about finding a good home with good people. Many people 'love' animals. The home & environment needs to be appropriate for that particular pet as well as the pet appropriate for that family.
Our goal at Joyful Rescues is to find the 'right' loving and responsible forever homes for the animal orphans we acquire as well as educate the public on pet ownership and the importance of spaying/neutering. At Joyful Rescues, we believe in nothing less than Happily Ever After & Fairy 'Tail' Endings.
